The sentence came after the convict pleaded guilty to stealing N45, 000 from his employer’s company and using it to gamble but lost out in the process. The convict, Imoh John, of Ilaje Road, Bariga in Lagos State, was arraigned on a one-count charge of stealing. The Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule Amzat, before giving her judgment, had found out from the prosecutor that Imoh was employed by the said company, Bet Naija, Ifako Branch, just two weeks from the day of the crime. The prosecutor, Sergeant Lucky Ihiehie, had earlier told the court that Imoh committed the offence on June 12 at No 1, Diya St., Ifako- Gbagada, Lagos. Ihiehe said the complainant, Mr Konigbabe Ibrahim , a Manager with the Bet Naija branch, reported the matter at Ifako Police Post. “On June 2, the accused went away with the sales of the day amounting to N45,000. “He said he waited for him till 9 p.m. on that day to come and give account but the accused never showed up but instead, kept lying on the phone that he was on his way.]]>
