As Christians across the globe observe Good Friday, former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb (UK), has called on legal practitioners to reflect on the deeper values of sacrifice, justice, and hope that the day represents.

In a message titled “In the Spirit of Good Friday,” Akangbe extended warm wishes to his colleagues and their families, urging them to draw inspiration from Christ’s profound sacrifice.

“This sacred day calls for sober reflection on the values that unite us as legal practitioners: service, empathy, and a deep commitment to doing what is right, even in the face of adversity,” he said.

Akangbe emphasized the need for continued integrity and compassion within the legal profession, stating, “As ministers in the temple of justice, may we continue to uphold the rule of law with integrity, courage, and compassion—ensuring that justice is not only done but is manifestly seen to be done.”

He encouraged lawyers to let the season rekindle their professional purpose and renew their commitment to the ideals that define the nobility of the legal profession.

“May this season rekindle our purpose, renew our spirits, and deepen our dedication to the ideals that make our profession noble,” he concluded.
