Mr. Olumide Akpata has been officially sworn in as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association at the Virtual Annual General Meeting.

The swearing-in was done by the outgone NBA President, Mr. Paul Usoro, SAN.

In a ceremony which was held at the NBA National Secretariat Abuja and streamed live, Mr. Akpata was sworn in immediately after the NBA Annual General Meeting.

The swearing-in and hand over marked the end of the tenure of Mr. Paul Usoro’s led Putting You First Bar and ushers in an administration that promises to take the NBA to a greater height.

Upon the swearing-in of the New President, he called on Mr. Yemi Akangbe, of Lagos branch to move the motion for the dissolution of the Usoro SAN led Executive and seconded by a past President of the NBA Abuja branch Mr. Desmond Iyama.

Mr. Akpata thanked the past executive for ensuring that the Association was held together. Thereafter, Mr. Akpata swore in members of his Excos.

Akpata who was declared the winner of the Presidential race by the ECNBA on the 31st of July, 2020, will pilot the Affairs of the Bar for the next 2 years.
