Lawyers Protest NBA Ihiala Branch Disqualification From NBA AGC 2019 Football Tournament Over Alleged Lack Of Branch Dues Payment

The NBA ihiala branch has protested what can be described as the improper disqualification of members of their branch.

According to the information disclosed, the disqualification was because the team did not present individual players branch dues receipt and that the branch covering note is unacceptable to the Local Organising Committee (LOC).

However, the Ihiala team refused to leave the pitch claiming that their disqualification was not justified.

Others complained, arguing why Lagos branch, the host, should benefit from the controversy of the unacceptable disqualification of Ihiala branch.

A source who spoke to TheNigerialawyer (TNL) said that lawyers and other commentators present at the venue were disappointed with Mr. Chukwuka Ikwuazom for his show of bias and immaturity.

”The second match was to be played between Ihiala Branch v. Lagos Branch but Mr. Chukwuka Ikwuazom, who is overseeing the NBA Football Committee, single-handedly disqualified the Ihiala Bar (Eagle Bar) team on the ground that there was no sufficient evidence of payment of branch dues for its players, even as he (Chukwuka Ikwuazom Esq.) never fully screened all the players of the Ihiala Bar.

”This was despite the fact that the Chairman of Ihiala Branch- Marcel Obijiagwam Esq., its Secretary and Financial Secretary authored a document stating that all the persons listed therein had paid their Branch dues. The said officials were also present at the venue of the tournament and they reaffirmed their position.

”In spite of these, Chukwuka Ikwuazom Esq., who coincidentally is the immediate past chairman of Lagos Branch, went ahead to disqualify Ihiala Branch and awarded all football points to his Branch- Lagos Branch, as victor.

”Most commentators and lawyers present at the venue of the tournament were extremely disappointed with Mr. Chukwuka Ikwuazom apparent show of bias and immaturity,” he said.

They further said that the players of the Ihiala Branch peacefully protested by staying on the pitch and calling on the leadership of the Bar to intervene and remove the patently biased Chukwuka Ikwuazom Esq. from the leadership capacity he occupies on the NBA Football Committee.

TheNigerialawyer(TNL) before the filing of this report put a call across to the former Chairman of NBA Lagos, Chukwuka Ikwuazor but he didn’t respond.
