The Hon. Chief Judge of Lagos State; Hon Justice Opeyemi Oke (Mrs) will on the 18th of January 2018 present to the general public flyers containing information about the mission and vision of the LAGOS state judiciary as well as information on what court users should do when confronted with a corrupt judicial officer. The Hon. Chief Judge, whose mission is to restore people’s confidence in the judiciary is making efforts to sanitize the judiciary in Lagos State. Recently, SHERIFFS across LAGOS State have been redeployed across the state as measures to curb corruption within their ranks. According to the National Convener, Fight Against Corruption In Judiciary, Bayo Akinlade Esq, the Chief Judge of Lagos has prioritized the Sheriff department for restructuring; as Lawyers are encouraged to stop dealing corruptly with the sheriffs. Some sheriff however complain that most lawyers are the ones compromising their job. It is however clear that the department is a cesspool for corrupt activities and the Chief Judge is leaving no stones unturned. The national convener further stated that various petitions against corrupt judicial staff in the state are currently being treated but the process is slow as the CJ regrettably noted, expressing her concern that the procedure for discipline under the civil service rules are too lengthy. The National Convener, who will be speaking on Splash FM Ibadan [one of the partners of [FIACIJ] on Saturday 20th January 9am encouraged lawyers across the nation to set up or join existing anti-corruption groups in their respective NBA Branches to bring back the HOPE OF THE COMMON MAN]]>
