The Niger Delta Development Commission has announced the 2026 Law and Development Summit, a major gathering aimed at exploring the role of law, governance and institutional reform in driving sustainable development across the Niger Delta region.

The summit, themed “The Role Of Law In Driving Sustainable Development In The Niger Delta,” will bring together legal practitioners, policymakers, development experts, academics, business leaders and key stakeholders committed to advancing sustainable growth, environmental protection, social justice and regional transformation.

According to the organisers, the summit is designed to foster robust discussions on how legal frameworks, policy formulation, governance structures and institutional reforms can serve as catalysts for economic development, environmental stewardship and inclusive growth in the Niger Delta.

The event will begin with a welcome cocktail on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at 8 EUI Event Center, Plot F11 Sani Abacha Road, GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The welcome cocktail is expected to provide invited guests with an opportunity for informal networking with distinguished speakers, legal professionals, policymakers and development stakeholders ahead of the main summit.

The main summit will hold on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the same venue.

The programme will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions and expert sessions focused on how law can be used as a tool for sustainable development in the Niger Delta and beyond.

The summit will conclude with a dinner and closing gala on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., also at 8 EUI Event Center, Port Harcourt.

The dinner and closing gala will bring together speakers, dignitaries, invited guests and participants for an evening of networking, reflection and celebration. It is also expected to consolidate discussions and partnerships formed during the summit.
