“Public Interest” programme encapsulated in the “3Rs-P” Agenda of the vision for #ABraveNewBar and in fulfillment of the mandate to ensure a world class conference and participation by Young Lawyers, the Technical Committee on Conference Planning (TCCP) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the partnership with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) to sponsor 25 (Twenty-Five) members of the Young Lawyers Forum (YLF) comprising 20 young lawyers from the North-East and 5 representatives of the Association of Lawyers with Disabilities in Nigeria (ALDIN). This is part of the promise by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, OON, SAN to sponsor at least 100 young lawyers to participate in the conference. This sponsorship covers registration, transportation and accommodation. The Lawyers so sponsored are listed in the schedules below: A. NORTH-EAST: [table id=61 /] B. REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION OF LAWYERS WITH DISABILITIES IN NIGERIA (ALDIN) [table id=62 /] UNECA was established in 1958 by the United Nations Economic and Social Council to encourage economic cooperation among its member states (the nations of the African Continent) following a recommendation of the United Nations General Assembly (UN); it is one of the five regional commissions of the UN; it has 54 member states corresponding to the 54 member states of the UN and its work is structured into seven core programmes including “Capacity Development”. This sponsorship for Young Lawyers is part of efforts by the NBA and UNECA to support the work of the Federal Government of Nigeria at rebuilding the North-East.
