The 43-year-old is facing a two-count charge of impersonation and fraud. Olorundare, however, pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate, Mr Omolaja Kazeem, said the accused must provide two responsible sureties in like sum. Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Philip Osijiale, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 24 at about 10.00 a.m. at Thomas Estate, Ajah, Lagos. He said the accused, who posed as a police officer attached to Ajah Divisional Headquarters, unlawfully obtained N12, 000 from a motorist, Mr David Udumukwu. The prosecutor alleged that the accused also handcuffed the motorist. The offences contravened Sections 77 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (as amended). The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that section 77 stipulates four years imprisonment for impersonating members of the Armed Forces or the Police, while Section 312 prescribes 15 years for obtaining by false pretences. The case was adjourned until April 19 for mention. (NAN)]]>
