The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned Abraham Idowu Abiara before the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over an alleged $626,282 fraud.

Abiara was arraigned on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, before Justice Ismail Ijelu on a one-count charge bordering on stealing and dishonest conversion of funds.
According to the EFCC, the defendant allegedly converted the funds to his personal use in Lagos on or about September 2, 2015.
The charge alleged that Abiara “dishonestly converted to your own use the aggregate sum of $626,282” and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280(2) and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
Following his plea, prosecution counsel C.C. Okezie urged the court to remand Abiara in a correctional facility and fix a date for the commencement of trial.
Justice Ijelu subsequently adjourned the matter to October 26, 2026, for hearing of the defendant’s bail application and commencement of trial.
