The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association has published the final list of eligible voters, timetable of outstanding activities and electronic voting guide for the 2026 NBA National Officers and General Council of the Bar elections.

In separate notices dated June 3, 2026, and signed by the ECNBA Chairman, Aham Ejelam, SAN, and Secretary, Ibrahim Aliyu Nassarawa, Esq., the committee confirmed that the elections remain scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026.

According to the ECNBA, the final list of eligible voters was compiled from the verified voters’ register after the closure of the verification portal and the freezing of the register.

The committee said the voter database has been harvested and integrated into the electronic voting platform by Mikrodigital Connect, the appointed Electronic Voting Service Provider, in collaboration with ECNBA technical consultants and managers of the ECNBA website.

The ECNBA stated that only members whose names appear on the final list will be eligible to vote on election day.

“Only members whose names appear on this Final List shall be eligible to vote on Election Day. No additions, deletions, or modifications shall be made to the register after this publication,” the notice stated.

The committee urged all members to immediately check their names on the final list of eligible voters, which is available on the ECNBA official website at www.ecnba.org.ng.

In compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, the ECNBA said the public version of the final list has been redacted and will only display the name, Supreme Court Number and branch of each eligible voter.

It explained that telephone numbers and email addresses have been withheld from the public domain to protect members from illegal database harvesting, directory scraping and spam.

Members who believe their names were wrongly omitted or that their details were incorrectly captured were directed to contact the committee through info@ecnba.org.ng without delay.

In its timetable of outstanding election activities, the ECNBA announced that the campaign period will run from June 10 to July 18, 2026, during which candidates may canvass support through lawful means in line with the NBA Constitution and ECNBA guidelines.

The committee fixed June 15, 2026, for completion of platform configuration by Mikrodigital Connect, with the voting platform to be fully configured with Supreme Court Number-based authentication.

Independent penetration testing and security certification of the platform, including vulnerability assessment of the platform, APIs, authentication and encryption systems, will take place between June 16 and June 18, 2026. This will involve ECNBA, Mikrodigital Connect, Thanelinc Nigeria Limited and independent auditors.

The ECNBA will publish the election magazine containing candidates’ manifestos and CVs on June 18, 2026, while data protection training for ECNBA members and NEC members will take place on June 20, 2026.

Trial messages will be sent to all eligible voters between June 22 and June 27, 2026, to test SMS and email accessibility. The deadline for complaints arising from non-receipt or errors in trial messages is July 5, 2026.

The committee also scheduled final authentication and platform readiness testing for July 4 and 5, 2026, while voter sensitisation sessions at zonal and branch levels will hold from July 1 to July 5, 2026.

A hybrid debate session for presidential, vice presidential and general secretary candidates will hold on July 8, 2026.

The campaign period will end on July 18, 2026, while July 19, 2026, has been designated as a campaign-free day.

Election day is July 20, 2026. Voting will open at 12:00 a.m. WAT and close at 11:59 p.m. WAT. The ECNBA said every eligible voter must complete authentication using SCN and OTP and cast their vote within the voting window, adding that no vote will be accepted after 11:59 p.m. WAT.

Collation, audit validation and security verification of results will take place from July 20 to July 21, 2026, while official results will be declared on July 21, 2026.

Candidates will have until July 27, 2026, to file election petitions, while the National Officers Election Appeals Committee is expected to determine petitions by August 18, 2026.

In the electronic voting guide, the ECNBA said only members whose names appear on the final qualified voters’ register will be eligible to vote.

To qualify, a member must possess a valid Supreme Court Number, must have completed the voter verification exercise before the register freeze, must have valid and updated contact information, including email and mobile number, and must have fulfilled all constitutional dues and payment requirements.

On election day, voters are to access the official NBA electronic voting portal as notified by the ECNBA, enter their Supreme Court Number for verification, request a One-Time Password, and receive the OTP through their registered email address and mobile number.

After entering the OTP, voters will gain access to the electronic ballot, select the election category, either National Officers or General Council of the Bar representatives, and cast their votes.

The committee advised voters to carefully review their selections before submission, warning that once a vote is confirmed, it is final and cannot be altered.

Upon submission, voters will receive a unique confirmation receipt as proof that their vote has been recorded securely and anonymously.

The ECNBA said the platform will deploy multi-layer security measures, including end-to-end encryption, SSL/TLS, SCN verification, OTP authentication, immutable audit logs and real-time monitoring.

It further assured members that ballot secrecy will be guaranteed and that no person, including ECNBA officials, Mikrodigital Connect personnel or any third party, will have access to voters’ selections.

“All votes are encrypted and anonymised,” the committee stated.

Members were advised to vote personally and not disclose their login credentials or OTP to anyone.

On data protection, the ECNBA said all personal data will be processed in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and other applicable regulations.

It also announced that Thanelinc Nigeria Limited has been appointed as Data Protection Officer for the elections and will ensure compliance with data protection obligations.

Members who experience difficulty with the voting portal are to contact ECNBA through support@ecnba.zohodesk.com.

The ECNBA reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, transparent, inclusive and credible 2026 NBA national election.
