The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) conducted for admission into Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) and the Federal Government Academy (FGA), with over 64,000 candidates participating across Nigeria, the Benin Republic, and Togo.

The results were officially presented on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja, where the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, received the outcome from NECO Registrar, Professor Dantani Wushishi.

According to the minister, a total of 64,578 candidates registered for the 2025 NCEE, out of which 61,290 candidates sat for the examination, while 3,288 were absent.

However, Prof. Ahmad expressed concern over a record-breaking 52 cases of examination malpractice—two from Lagos State and 50 from Rivers State—describing the development as alarming and unprecedented in the examination’s history.

Highlighting key performance data, she said that out of a maximum score of 210, thirteen candidates scored the highest mark of 202, while 27 candidates recorded the lowest score of 1.

For the Federal Government Academy (FGA) examination, she disclosed that 3,421 candidates registered, 3,141 sat for the test, while 280 were absent. The highest score in the FGA exam was 194, with the lowest also being 1.

“The National Common Entrance Examination is highly competitive and intended for Nigerian children seeking admission into Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS1) of 80 Federal Unity Colleges nationwide,” she stated.

“These colleges remain a symbol of national unity, bearing the motto Pro Unitate. We are committed to sustaining their role in strengthening unity and improving education quality.”

She reaffirmed that the admission criteria into Federal Unity Colleges remain unchanged—60 percent based on merit, 30 percent on state equality, and 10 percent on exigency.

With the results now officially released, the minister directed the Senior Secondary Education Department to conclude the admission process promptly in accordance with established guidelines.
