The Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Edo State, Dr. Samson Osagie, has called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to strengthen internal cohesion among its members and forge a more strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Justice in driving legal reforms and justice delivery in the state.

Dr. Osagie made the appeal on Friday when he received a delegation led by Mr. Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry’s headquarters in Benin City.

In his remarks, the Attorney General reiterated the Ministry’s steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law, safeguarding human rights, and enhancing access to justice. He stressed the importance of synergy between the Bar and the Bench, particularly in building institutional capacity and promoting professionalism within the legal ecosystem.

He also applauded Governor Monday Okpebholo for his administration’s reforms in the justice sector, citing notable achievements in digital transformation, legal infrastructure, and legal aid delivery.

“The progress we have recorded in the Edo State Ministry of Justice is a direct result of strong political will and focused leadership. We believe the NBA remains a vital partner in deepening the gains of justice reform,” Dr. Osagie stated.
