President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of a Lecturer in the Department of Islamic Law at the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulkadir Abikan, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) as Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS).

This is contained in a letter of appointment from the office of Solicitor General of the Federation, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba in Abuja
The appointment according to the letter takes effect from 24th of November 2024 in conformity with sections 8 (1) and (2) of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies Act of 1984.
Meanwhile, in a congratulatory message, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, lauded Prof. Abikan’s appointment as a testament to his unwavering commitment to legal research, administrative excellence, and the advancement of legal education in Nigeria and beyond.
“Your appointment is a recognition of your outstanding contributions to the advancement of legal research and education, which have had a profound impact on the legal profession in Nigeria and beyond,” Mazi Osigwe stated.
