Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has emerged the winner of Dr. Wole Olufon National Moot Court Competition that held during the 28th Clasfon Annual National Conference at Lokoja, Kogi State from 14th to 18th August, 2019.

The Schools that participated in the 1st round of the mooting competition were Imo State University (IMSU); Ahmadu Bello University UNIVERSITY (ABU), Zaria; Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT); Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA); Benue State University (BSU); Kogi State University (KSU); University of Calabar (Unical) and an unnamed school which filed processes through a name “E. W. Aiyudubie” & “Winifred”.

Out of these schools, only four schools qualified for the final oral round, that is to say, ABU Zaria; BSU; IMSU and Unical.

ABU was represented by a team of three students consisting of O. G. Chukkol (leading the team); O. T. Zainab and Shobayo O. Babatunde at the oral round and they defeated the three other schools mentioned above thereby clinching the trophy. IMSU came second while BSU came third.

The final round of the Mooting Competition was heard by a panel of three judges presided over by Her Worship, Bamidele Aina, Chief Magistrate, Kogi State. The other two in the panel were Pastor Martins Idachaba, Esq (Chairman of Clasfon Lokoja Branch) and Mr Lere, Esq. (a lecturer with University of Jos).

TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL) recalls that just last month, ABU won two National Moot Competitions, to wit, the 2019 Annual National Moot Court Competition organized by the Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) and another which took place at Al-hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State on the 26th of July, 2019 organized by the Nigerian Association of Muslim Law Students (NAMLAS) beating all the participating universities to emerge best in brief content and beating University of Osun in the finals, oral round.
