This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Owerri Branch, M. Chukwurah Onuorah, Esq and made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL)

The statement partly reads:

“We recently received the sad news of the demise of our father, grandfather, great leader, community icon, international lawyer, philanthropist and orator… Egbendu, Jaborigbo, Kwekukwe, Papa Onye Eze, Prof. Jude O.L. Ezeala

“The sad event occurred in the United States of America. Due to the restriction on movements, we will encourage people to adhere to government guidelines, respect family privacy and remember him in prayers.

Further information will be disclosed as events unfold.

“May his gentle soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in perfect peace, Amen!”
