The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, has disclosed that the issues raised in respect of the e-passport by the United Arab Emirates has been resolved.

He stated that the new enhanced e-passport was accepted in UAE and other countries.

A lady had narrated how she was harassed and deported from Dubai by the UAE authorities for travelling with the new Nigerian passport.

But the CG explained in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday that the issue had been addressed.

It said, “The recent problem on the e-passport with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates has been resolved and the CGI will like to seize this opportunity to thank both the ambassadors of UAE and Nigeria for resolving the issue.”

Babandede encouraged Nigerians to get their National Identity Number and ensure that the information tallied with the one on their passports.

He explained that the uniformity of the NIN information and that of the 10-year validity passport was to ensure one identity which was a major feature of the new enhanced e-passport which he said was available in the service headquarters, Abuja and Ikoyi, pending the roll-out in other centres.
