Dear Sir,

COMPLAINT AGAINST  CP.  ANYIM ABRAHAM EKONG OF HOMICIDE DEPARTMENT FORCE CIID, ABUJA

INRE: ABUSE OF OFFICE, OFFICIAL CORRUPTION. HIGH HANDEDNESS, COMPOUNDING FELONY AND OVER-RIDING INTEREST WITH BIAS

It is with a very heavy heart and every sense of responsibility that the whole composition of GOSHEN LAWLORDS SOLICITORS, as the lead Team of Lawyers and Law Firm consulted by the accredited Ezeagu Family, represented by Messrs Aloy Ezeagu and Chinedu Ezeagu who has always retained our services and on whose instruction and behalf, we report to you the Commissioner of Police in-charge of the Homicide Department at Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja (CP Abraham Ekong Anyim).

Less than four weeks he took over from the well respected, intelligent but most experienced Commissioner of Police to have headed Force CID Homicide Department,  CP Felix Vwanhi who is on posting to Lagos State, CP Anyim Abraham Ekong became a pawn in the hands of his suspects, Messrs Chukwuanugo Offor and Echeona Ezeagu. The suspects, totally and completely “bought him over” and he plays the suspects’ script whether right or wrong not minding he is a Police officer by profession.

The genesis of our complaint is that our clients through a petition dated the 25th day of November, 2019, requested for the unbiased investigation, exhumation and autopsy of Chief Ambrose Ezeagu which the  CP Felix Vwanhi swung into action, investigated our client’s petition, concluded investigation and wrote his findings before handing over to CP Anyim Abraham Ekong.

The said CP Anyim Abraham Ekong summoned both our clients and the suspects for interview on the 29th day of January, 2020 at Force CID Abuja, had meeting before meeting with the two suspects for close to (1.35mins) one hour, thirty-five minutes and then asked our clients to come into his office. Upon meeting with our clients he started harassing our clients, forcing them to go back to Anambra State and hold a peace meeting with the two suspect without considering the distance and insecurity/kidnapping on the Federal High way from Eastern part of Nigeria to the Federal Capital Territory.

Our clients insisted that CP Anyim Abraham Ekong strictly be concerned with the business of the day thus CP Anyim Abraham Ekong thus the said CP embittered red, angrily brought out the Necropsy Cadaderum findings which stated that a large quantity of Ethanol was found in the urinary system of Late Ambrose Ezeagu . CP  Anyim Abraham Ekong read to the hearing of parties that Ethanol can be food that contains alcohol, beer, most likely stout and therein maintained that the suspects has no case to answer as against the recommendation of CP Felix Vwanhi, the Commissioner of Police who handed over to CP Anyim Abraham Ekong.

OUR CLIENTS CASE:

  1. CP Anyim Abraham Ekong abused his powers and compounded felony, when he forced our clients to go and make peace with the suspects who alleged that our clients and two Police Inspectors attached to Onitsha Area Command, Anambra State killed Late Ambrose Ezeagu by beating him to death thus alleged murder.
  2. CP Anyim Abraham Ekong as a Police officer showed his over-riding interest and abused his office when during an interview with our clients and the two suspects, he interpreted the large composition of Ethanol found in the urinary system of late Ambrose Ezeagu to mean Beer, Food Substance that contains Ethanal or indeed concentration of stout whereas the deceased who had been bed-ridden for so many years standing has not tasted alcohol.
  3. CP Anyim Abraham Ekong abused his office and suggested a step taken by a corrupt senior Federal Agent by his body language when he first had meeting after meeting with the suspects for close to (1.35mins) one hour, thirty-five minutes before requesting our clients to joined up in the purported interview.
  4. CP Anyim Abraham Ekong abused his office and played a script suggesting official corruption of a Federal Agent when he held that the fake post mortem Report that stated the late Ambrose Ezeagu died as a result of beating and trauma, as against the findings of the Autopsy Report, thus CP Anyim Abraham Ekong maintained during a purported interview in his office that he is confused whether to believe the Post Mortem Report or believe the proper Autopsy Report and findings. To the greatest surprise and chagrin of our client, this unprofessional statement suggest that the CP Anyim Abraham Ekong has been influenced by money otherwise he knew that his predecessor has concluded the investigation of the case and recommended the charges thereto except that he had received millions of Naira from the two suspects to shield and give them soft landing.
  5. CP Anyim Abraham Ekong again played out official corruption when he asked the suspect to pick any date of their choice as a return date to report settlement with the complainants without regard and reference to our clients.
  6. CP Anyim Abraham Ekong showed his bias and high handedness when he started shouting and intimidating our clients who objected to the move for settlement, with the suspects by requesting to see the Medical Doctor procured by the suspects to prepare and issue a fake Medical Post Mortem Report which suggests that Late Ambrose Ezeagu died from and as a result of beating and trauma sustained from the action of our clients and two police inspectors.
  7. CP Anyim Abraham Ekong abused his office and powers when he held that the investigation carried out by CP Felix Vwanhi does not disclose any prima facie evidence to sustain any charge against the two suspects.
  8. CP Anyim Abraham Ekong abused his power when he photocopied the Police Case File, including but not limited to the Autopsy Report and handed over to the suspects who in turn handed same over to their Paris Priest at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Akwu Autonomous Community, Akokwa Town in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State for the use, fixture and permit of the burial of Late Ambrose Ezeagu when the case has not been charged to court.
  9. CP Anyim Abraham Ekong showed up his overriding interest and corruption when he held that the evidence found during police Execution of Search Warrant and incriminating Exhibits recovered from the suspects which the two suspects stole from the deceased at point of his death will not be used against them, insisting that it was not part of our clients’ petition.

Examples of the unholy alliance between CP Anyim Abraham Ekong and the suspects are galore but we chose to maintain the nine (9) grounds stated (supra).

The CP Anyim Abraham Ekong   should not be used to defeat the cause of justice and mount tension daily in Ezeagu family, which could explode any moment from now if not promptly arrested.

We submit for your urgent intervention please.

We remain,

FOR: GOSHEN LAWLORDS SOLICITORS
