A councilor declared wanted by the Adamawa State Government has turned himself in.

The councillor, Makana Enan Ngari, reported himself to the State Police Command, which has taken him to custody.

The State government had on Wednesday said that the councillor who represents Vulpi Ward in Numan local government area was wanted over illegal activities and cattle rustling.

However, the Adamawa State Police Command said in a statement obtained Thursday that the councilor was now in its custody.

The statement, signed by the command’s spokesman, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said, “The police command wishes to inform members of the general public that the Councilor representing Vulpi Ward, Numan Local Government who was earlier declared wanted by the Adamawa State Government following allegations of taking part in Criminal activities, is now in police custody.”

According to the statement, the Councilor submitted himself to the police in Numan and had since been moved to State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adeyanju, while urging members of the general public to remain calm and enjoy the already existing peace in Numan Federation, assures that the suspect will be diligently prosecuted on completion of investigation if found involved,” the statement said.
