The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has introduced a new system allowing candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions to verify and upload their O’Level results from their homes without having to visit Computer-Based Test, CBT, centres solely for the exercise.

The Board said the new arrangement, which begins with results issued by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, will enable it to verify candidates’ Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination results directly with examination bodies before the records are uploaded to their JAMB profiles.
JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.
According to the Board, the initiative is aimed at simplifying the admission process by reducing queues, manual handling of results and unnecessary visits to accredited CBT centres.
Under the previous arrangement, candidates who registered with awaiting results or subsequently obtained their O’Level results were generally required to visit accredited centres to have the results uploaded to their JAMB profiles.
The latest system provides candidates with an alternative that allows the process to be undertaken remotely.
JAMB said the technological integration between its e-Facility platform and examination bodies would enable submitted results to be checked directly against records held by the issuing examination authority.
The Board said this would help tackle problems associated with manual uploading, including entry of wrong grades or subjects, misplaced or mixed-up documents and attempts to present fraudulent or unverifiable results.
“Consequently, candidates can now upload their O’Level results from the comfort of their homes, while the Board undertakes the verification of such results directly with the issuing examination bodies,” JAMB said.
According to the examination body, the initiative forms part of its renewed drive to make services easier, faster, safer and more convenient for candidates.
JAMB explained that the process operates in two stages — verification of the examination result and subsequent upload of the verified result into the candidate’s profile.
Candidates are first required to visit the designated result verification platform and supply their National Identification Number, NIN.
They must then select the number of examination sittings they intend to use and choose the relevant examination body.
After providing a valid email address and GSM number, candidates are required to make the applicable verification payment using either a debit card or bank transfer.
Once payment has been successfully completed, the candidate will provide the examination number, examination series and year of examination.
The result will then be verified against the examination body’s records and a verification code generated for the candidate.
For the second stage, candidates are required to send “VERIFY” together with their verification code to 55019 or 66019, after which the verified result will be uploaded and a notification sent to the candidate.
Candidates combining results from two examination sittings will undergo an additional step through JAMB’s e-Facility.
Such candidates will be notified to log into their profile and select the “2026 UTME O’Level Upload” option.
After entering the verification code, the two verified results will be displayed, allowing the candidate to select the subjects required for admission.
JAMB said candidates using two sittings must select a minimum of five subjects and a maximum of nine, while ensuring that the same subject is not selected more than once.
The candidate will thereafter apply the selected O’Level results to the profile and receive confirmation when the process has been successfully completed.
The Board stressed that the new system is particularly intended to provide relief during periods of heavy admission activity when accredited CBT centres experience large crowds and network challenges.
It also provides an additional safeguard against errors that could jeopardise a candidate’s admission prospects.
O’Level results remain a critical component of JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, and candidates awaiting results cannot be processed for admission until the required qualifications have been uploaded.
JAMB’s existing admission guidelines provide that candidates awaiting O’Level results must upload them to the Board’s portal once they become available.
The Board has repeatedly warned that tertiary institutions cannot successfully recommend candidates for admission through CAPS where the necessary O’Level qualifications have not been uploaded.
JAMB’s CAPS dashboard currently shows that more than 2.27 million UTME and Direct Entry candidates are involved in the 2026/2027 admission process, while over one million candidates already have O’Level information captured on the system.
The Board said the new verification arrangement would commence with WAEC and would be expanded through collaboration with other relevant examination bodies.
Benjamin said the initiative reflects the commitment of JAMB’s sixth Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, to a more technology-driven and candidate-oriented system of service delivery.
JAMB said it would continue working with examination and government agencies to automate its services and reduce the burden candidates encounter while completing admission-related processes.
The Board, however, maintained that candidates remain responsible for providing accurate personal and examination information during the verification process.
The introduction of the remote upload facility means candidates will no longer be compelled to travel to CBT centres merely to submit O’Level results where they can successfully complete the verification process through the new platform.
