The Lagos State University (LASU) has announced that all outstanding results in its Department of English have now been uploaded, assuring graduating students who have fulfilled the necessary academic requirements that they will not be forced to spend an additional year because of the controversy.

The university made the clarification following concerns that some final-year students in the department could have their graduation delayed because certain results had allegedly not been uploaded.

In a statement issued after an enquiry by the university management, LASU said the Department of English had completed the uploading of all outstanding results as of Sunday, August 23, 2026.

“Following an enquiry by the University Management into the allegation concerning the non-upload of results of some graduating students in the Department of English, the University wishes to clarify that the Department has uploaded all outstanding results as of Sunday, 23 August 2026,” the institution stated.

LASU consequently assured students who had satisfied all academic and other graduation requirements that they would graduate alongside their colleagues from the just-concluded 2025/2026 academic session.

The university specifically dismissed concerns that eligible students could be compelled to remain in school for another academic year because of the delayed uploading of results.

According to the institution, no student who has completed all requirements for graduation will be required to spend an additional year as a consequence of the issue.

LASU, however, clarified that any student whose result remains outstanding after the latest exercise should not automatically attribute the situation to the earlier non-upload controversy.

“Any student whose result remains outstanding following this action has yet to fulfil the requirements for graduation and is advised to complete the necessary requirements accordingly,” the university said.

The clarification follows days of concerns expressed online by some students over alleged missing results in the Department of English.

Some of the affected students had claimed that the delay could disrupt their graduation plans, with fears that they might have to spend an extra year in the university despite having completed their studies.

The controversy prompted the university management to investigate the claims and seek clarification from the department.

LASU said the subsequent uploading of the outstanding results had resolved the issue for students who had fulfilled their graduation requirements.

The institution reiterated its commitment to ensuring that qualified students are not unnecessarily prevented or delayed from graduating because of administrative issues relating to the processing of their results.

With the outstanding results now uploaded, the university said eligible students in the Department of English would proceed to graduate with their colleagues, while students who still have outstanding requirements have been advised to complete them before they can be cleared for graduation.
