DHL International Nigeria Ltd. has announced an opening for the position of Assistant Legal Counsel (Anglophone West Africa), as part of its DHL Express Legal team, with operations based in Lagos, Nigeria.

The role, which reports to the Senior Legal Counsel for Anglophone West Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, is designed for a qualified legal professional to provide comprehensive legal support across Nigeria, Ghana, and potentially Liberia, Gambia, and Sierra Leone.

According to the company, the successful candidate will be responsible for advising on a wide range of legal matters, including employment, labour, eCommerce, tax, commercial transactions, postal regulations, and corporate governance, while ensuring effective legal risk management across the region.

The position also involves overseeing litigation and claims, coordinating with external counsel, negotiating contracts, and supporting corporate governance processes, including management of legal documentation and recapitalization of regional entities.

DHL stated that the role requires between two to five years of legal practice experience, either in a commercial law firm or an in-house legal department, alongside a law degree and professional qualification. Familiarity with legal systems across Anglophone Africa and strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills are considered essential.

The company emphasised that the position offers significant career growth opportunities within its legal function across Sub-Saharan Africa, with potential progression to senior roles such as Legal Counsel and Head of Legal.

DHL, widely regarded as one of the world’s most international logistics companies, noted that the role aligns with its mission of “Connecting People, Improving Lives,” and seeks candidates capable of operating in a dynamic, fast-paced global environment.

Interested applicants are invited to apply through DHL’s official career portal.
