Justice Bamidele Adeleye of the Ondo State High Court has passed away.

The death of the jurist was announced in a statement issued on Friday in Akure by the Chief Registrar of the Ondo State High Court, Mr Ayodeji Akinsanya.

Akinsanya said the judiciary received the news with deep sorrow, describing the late judge as a distinguished jurist who served as the presiding judge of High Court 5 in Akure.

“It is with deep sorrow and profound grief that the Ondo State Judiciary announces the passing of Hon. Justice B. F. Adeyeye, a distinguished jurist and serving Judge of High Court 5, Akure.

“Justice Adeyeye departed this earthly realm on Thursday, March 12, 2026,” the statement read.

He noted that the late judge was widely regarded as a symbol of integrity, wisdom and dedication to justice throughout his years on the bench.

According to the statement, Justice Adeyeye’s service was characterised by a firm commitment to fairness, equity and the rule of law.

He was also described as highly respected among colleagues, members of the legal profession and the public for his humility, erudition and impartiality in the discharge of his duties.

The judiciary added that his contributions to the growth of the judicial system and the advancement of justice in Ondo State would remain lasting.

It stated that his death represents a significant loss not only to the judiciary but also to the people of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.

“On behalf of the judges, magistrates and staff of the Ondo State Judiciary, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Hon. Justice B. F. Adeyeye.

“We pray that Almighty God grants them the strength to bear this irreparable loss and that the soul of our departed brother rests in perfect peace,” the statement added.

Recall that Justice Adeyeye was sworn in as a judge of the Ondo State High Court on September 8, 2011.

Born on January 16, 1961, he founded the law firm, Fola Adeyeye & Co., in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, before his appointment to the bench.
