The National Examinations Council (NECO) has disclosed that 38 schools across 13 states were involved in whole-school cheating during the conduct of the 2025 Internal Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, made this known on Tuesday during the official release of the examination results.

According to him, nine supervisors have been recommended for blacklisting for offences ranging from aiding and abetting malpractice to poor supervision, lateness, unruly conduct, assault, and insubordination.

Wushishi explained that the affected schools have been summoned to the Council’s headquarters for discussions, after which appropriate sanctions will be applied.

He described the 2025 SSCE as one of the most successful in recent years, noting that the results were released just 54 days after the last paper was written.

Giving further details, Wushishi stated that 60.26 percent of candidates obtained five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language, while 84.26 percent secured five credits and above irrespective of the two core subjects.
