Eleven new private universities will get their licenses on Wednesday (Today) from the National Universities Commission, bringing the total number of licensed private universities in the country to 159.

This was disclosed in a notice sent to our colleagues in Abuja.

“The NUC will issue provisional licenses to 11 new private universities at the NUC auditorium by 3:00pm,” a short notice sent to our correspondent by the NUC said.

Earlier this year, the Federal Government placed a ban on the issuance of licenses to private universities but noted that applicants who have reached the advanced stages will continue to be reviewed and approved if they meet the necessary requirements.

The 11 new private universities are New City University, Ayetoro, Ogun State; University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State; Eranova University, Mabushi, FCT and Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun Annexe.

Others are Abubakar Toyin University, Oke-Agba, Kwara State, Southern Atlantic University, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Lens University, Ilemona, Kwara State and Monarch University, Iyesi-Ota, Ogun State.

Others are Tonnie Iredia University of Communication, Benin City, Edo State; Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, Lagos and Kevin Eze, University, Mgbowo, Enugu State.
