The Data Privacy Lawyers Association of Nigeria (DPLAN) has constituted a Steering Committee to oversee its operations during its pilot phase. Founded in December 2024, DPLAN is dedicated to promoting and advancing privacy and data protection law in Nigeria, providing a platform for legal professionals in the field.

The Steering Committee, appointed for a two-year term, will guide the association’s strategic direction. The appointed members include:

  • Dr. Faith Amarachi Okpara – Vice Chair
  • Mus’ab Awwal Mu’az – Secretary
  • Muhaimin Abdulmalik – Event Planning & Conference Director
  • Oladipupo Ige – Policy & Advocacy Director
  • Dr. Pretty Tega Edema – Education & Training Director
  • Ibrahim Issa Ibitayo – Treasurer
  • Francis Oronsaye – Membership Director
  • Ahmed Abdulrasheed – Technology & Innovation Director
  • Emmanuel Tochukwu Okpara – Legal & Compliance Director
  • Esther Nkechinyere Odunze – Communications & Media Director

DPLAN’s efforts will also be guided by a Board of Advisers, comprising notable experts in data privacy and legal advocacy: Ridwan Oloyede, Ifeanyi Okonkwo, Solomon Okedara, Ifeoma Peters, Femi Olojede, Moses Faya, Egoyibo Okoro, Temitayo Ogunmokun, and Torera Oladeji. The Board will provide strategic counsel to ensure the association achieves its mission of strengthening data privacy law practice in Nigeria.

DPLAN is committed to fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and professional development among legal practitioners in the data privacy sector. The association will commence membership admission on April 1, 2025, inviting legal professionals, academics, and other stakeholders interested in privacy law to join.
