The Board of Trustees (BOT) of the University of Maiduguri Alumni Association has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap to revamp and strengthen the association, focusing on constitutional amendments, leadership elections, and collaboration with the university for its 50th anniversary celebration.

In a statement issued on March 5, 2025, after a crucial meeting with the National Caretaker Committee and the university management, the BOT Chairman, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN, outlined key resolutions aimed at repositioning the alumni body for greater impact.

Among the resolutions is the constitution review process, led by the Prof. Maxwell Gidado, SAN-led Constitution Amendment Committee, which will propose necessary amendments to align with the association’s evolving needs. To implement these changes, an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) has been scheduled for May 3, 2025, where members will deliberate and adopt the proposed amendments.

The election of new National Executive Officers and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on November 8, 2025, in Maiduguri, followed by the Annual Dinner and Handover Ceremony in Abuja on December 6, 2025.

Furthermore, the BOT and the National Caretaker Committee will work closely with the university administration to organize a grand 50th anniversary celebration of the institution on November 10, 2025.

Chief Gadzama commended the National Caretaker Committee for its commitment and proactive measures in repositioning the association. He also expressed appreciation to the university leadership for their continuous support and cooperation.

Statement - BOT, UAA_3.25

“As the association moves into a new era, we call on all members to remain united and engaged in strengthening our network. Together, we will build a vibrant alumni body that will contribute meaningfully to our alma mater,” the statement read.
