*Says Natasha’s Allegations Against Akpabio Misplaced, Driven By Malice

Constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Sir Nkem Okoro, Esq., has called on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to tender an unreserved apology to the Senate and its President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, over what he described as her “unforgivable ignorance” of the internal rules of the Senate and her alleged attempt to malign the institution.

In a strongly-worded statement issued on Sunday, Okoro asserted that Senator Natasha had brought “undeserved embarrassment” upon herself and the Senate by making allegations against Senate President Akpabio, whom he insists was merely performing his official duties.

According to Okoro, the Senator’s accusations are misplaced, as they do not constitute any offence, let alone an impeachable one. He further questioned the timing of her claims, asking why she remained silent for so long only to speak up now, suggesting that her actions were a calculated attempt to blackmail the Senate President.

“Even if, without conceding, Senator Akpabio made such an invitation, how does that amount to an indecent act?” he asked. “By her own admission, they were family friends. How does inviting her to his residence suddenly imply immorality?”

Okoro accused Natasha of whipping up false sentiments against Akpabio instead of respecting the internal mechanisms of the Senate. He emphasized that her campaign against the Senate President appears to be driven by malice, rather than any genuine grievance.

“If I were to advise her, I would simply say: Apologize to the Senate and move on. She cannot defeat the institution of the Senate,” he declared.

He further stressed that despite the Senate’s efforts to accommodate her naivety, she has chosen instead to level “false and malicious allegations” to cover up what he described as her lack of understanding of legislative procedures.

“We are watching,” Okoro concluded.
