Former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Lagos State, Olasupo Sasore has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can rule from any part of the world.

He noted that the President can function from anywhere if he does not see any need to hand over his office to anyone while traveling out of the country.

Recall that some critics have been saying the absence of President Tinubu and his Vice, Shettima is not healthy enough for the nation, particularly at this time the country is currently experiencing economic challenges.

Speaking with newsmen during the 50th Founder’s Day anniversary of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Oyo, Sasore, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), stated that the Nigerian President can function from any part of the world, adding that the Nigerian Constitution, particularly 1979 allows it.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, while defending said technology has made conferencing by all sorts of devices easy, including electronic signature, Tinubu can rule from any part of the world.

According to him, it would have been a different matter if the Vice President had been around.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa described the 50th Founder’s Day anniversary as a milestone journey, saying the school has impacted positively on many Nigerian girls right from its inception.

She said the school has produced women of excellence, adding that despite all the achievements, the school is still being faced with some challenges ranging from a good road network, solar power lights, boreholes, and other infrastructural facilities needed by the school.

She said the federal government needs to articulate clearer strategies for the future of the school, so as to be able to compete with its peers in Nigeria.

She, however, said the vision of the federal government in establishing FGGC, Oyo had been achieved with what the school has done in impacting and modeling the future of girls.

However, many Nigerians have condemned Sasore’s comments, stating that Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) are one of the problems hindering Nigeria’s progress. Critics argue that such statements from legal experts could be seen as enabling and justifying the absence of the nation’s leaders during crucial times.

Social media platforms have been flooded with reactions from angry Nigerians who believe that Sasore’s comments are insensitive and out of touch with the reality of the challenges faced by the country. Many have called for the President and his Vice to return to the country and address the pressing issues at hand.

Some legal experts have also weighed in on the matter, arguing that while the constitution may allow for remote governance, it is not a sustainable or effective way to lead a nation, especially during times of crisis. They have urged the government to prioritize the needs of the people and to be present and accountable in their leadership.
