The Johnny Agim, SAN Foundation (JASAN Foundation) will hold the first edition of its flagship annual event, The Legacy Dialogue, on Friday, September 13, 2024 in Abuja.

With the theme “The Future of Law & Professional Identity Formation: The Role of Strategic Sponsorship & Mentorship”, The Legacy Dialogue 1.0 will feature a distinguished panel of legal luminaries exploring the transformation of the legal profession in Nigeria.

The event will also mark the official launch of JASAN Foundation, a pioneering organization dedicated to providing mentorship, sponsorship, and scholarships to young Nigerian lawyers. As part of the launch, the Foundation is establishing a N1 billion endowment fund, with an initial target of raising N250 million to support the first cohort of beneficiaries.

Ten promising law graduates will be awarded full scholarships, valued at N1.1 million each, to attend the Nigerian Law School. The inaugural scholars will be selected through the #Legacy500 Competition, an essay contest open to final year law students and recent graduates nationwide. Scholarship recipients will subsequently be inducted into the Foundation’s 10-year #Legacy500 Elite Mentorship Programme.

“JASAN Foundation aims to build a legacy of formidable and transgenerational human, legal, judicial, corporate and structural institutions for the reformation and repositioning of the legal profession in Nigeria,” said Mr. Johnny Agim, SAN, Founder of JASAN Foundation. “Through strategic mentorship, sponsorship, and scholarships, we will empower the next generation of legal leaders.”

The Legacy Dialogue 1.0 will be headlined by a keynote address from Prof. Ernest Ojukwu, SAN, a renowned legal educator and scholar. The event will be moderated by Oyetola Muyiwa Atoyebi, SAN, Managing Partner of OMAPLEX Law Firm and the youngest lawyer in Nigerian history to be conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Confirmed speakers include:
– Justice Mabel Taiye Segun-Bello, Judge of the Federal High Court
– Prof. Isa Hayatu Chiroma, SAN, Director General of the Nigerian Law School
– Ayotunde Foluso Ogunleye, SAN, Founder and Principal Partner of Legal Tuxedo & Associates

The Chief Guest of Honour will be H.E. Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Executive Governor of Cross River State.
