A 26-year-old Medical Doctor turned hacker, Micheal Williams, who stole a Porsche Car worth N28 million was on Monday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court. Williams who resides at 2667, Hilton Layout, Lekki area of Lagos, allegedly committed the offences on May 10 at Ajah. According to the Prosecutor, Peter Nwangwu, Williams stole a Porsche car valued at N28million property of the complainant, Mr Abidogun Adewale. The prosecutor also alleged that the accused stole a Toyota Corolla car also valued at N3.5million belonging to one Omopeyin Oluwaseun. The accused was apprehended by the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Ikeja after a petition was made against him. Williams, a trained medical doctor turned hacker uses hacking tricks to perpetuate fake business transactions online. The accused, who had worked with Front Line hospitals in Lagos, Eko and Tolu Medical Centre hospitals, usually hacked into customers accounts with banks and financial institutions’ as well as monitors private emails of people. He had had access to customers’ bank accounts where he used the proceeds of the crime to fund his lavish lifestyle According to the Prosecutor, Williams buys various goods worth millions of naira with credit cards and make false payments in tranches to unsuspecting victims. Williams was nabbed sometimes in March when a petition was lodged to the office of the Commissioner of Police by a car mart owner Mr Abidogun Adewale. Adewale alleged that the accused bought a Porsche car valued at N28 million. “The accused paid into his bank account but on visiting his banker, he discovered he had actually received a false bank alert indicating payment for a car sold at N28million,” “The accused is a member of a syndicate that goes to car shops, buys a car, configures a computer program that would send a fake payment alert to the seller and by so doing, obtains a car. “The accused thereafter requested for the complainant’s bank account number and made it look like he had paid him via the fake alert to his phone using HTTP tunnel.com. Thereafter, the accused drove the car away, unknown to Abidogun that he had been scammed. A police manhunt was launched on the accused by the Police. Detectives of the FSARS and all necessary intelligence asset was dispatched after the accused and this led to his arrest. Williams was apprehended in Asaba, Delta, where the stolen car was recovered. The accused also led detectives to Owerri, Imo where two Camry Saloon Cars he stole in a similar fashion were recovered. The accused has a good mastery of cyber environment and thus creates a credit card through cyber ghost 12. He said, when the credit card matures, it is then funded through a hacked Swiss account. “Any transaction anybody does through Swiss account the accused manipulates such and wire the fund to his contrived credit card. “This is possible with the aid of cyber ghost 12 HTTP/tunnel.azinytv4/vpn (virtual private network),” the prosecutor said. He said that through the credit card, he can buy software he needs to work and protect his job so that he cannot be traced. “Such software is known as VPN and word cyber protector e.g Dare Devil. “It also enables one to do deductions and transactions per dollar from every individual domiciliary account.” “The accused said he is able to Shut off CCTV camera on Dare Devil and break the two hundred and fifty-six (256) codes on the word, CCTV.China.com.northkorea.codeuntouchable.tracker.com. “This enables him to shut down any working system of his interest on yt.com an internet sophistication, for example, youtube and facebook to make them unworkable for 67 minutes,” he added. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Y. O. Aje-Afunwa, granted the accused bail in the sum of N2.5 million with two responsible sureties after he pleaded not guilty Aje-Afunwa said the sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
