The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has officially relaunched its Digital Stamp and Seal for legal practitioners, marking a renewed push to strengthen professional regulation, ease of practice, and the integrity of legal documentation in Nigeria.

The Digital Stamp and Seal initiative, which was first introduced under the administration of Mr. Y.C. Maikyau, SAN, has now been relaunched and improved to make the application process simpler, faster, and more accessible for lawyers across the country.

The relaunch reaffirms the Association’s commitment to leveraging technology to modernise legal practice and eliminate abuse associated with unauthorised documentation.

A key highlight of the relaunch is the special support extended to young lawyers. Legal practitioners who are between one and seven years post call and who have paid their Bar Practising Fee for the 2026 practice year are entitled to receive the Digital Stamp and Seal free of charge.

This measure is designed to reduce financial burden on young lawyers and support them in building sustainable legal careers.

The Digital Stamp and Seal remains a mandatory requirement for the authentication of legal documents, aimed at curbing impersonation, forgery, and the activities of fake lawyers.

The NBA has reaffirmed that the initiative is central to protecting the integrity of the legal profession and safeguarding the public from unqualified practitioners.

The Association encouraged all eligible lawyers to take advantage of the simplified process and urged members to promptly regularise their practising status in order to benefit from the relaunch.

The NBA described the development as another practical step toward strengthening professional standards, promoting access to justice, and supporting young lawyers as the future of the Bar.
