The Intellectual Property Lawyers Association of Nigeria has endorsed Mr. Olumide Akpata as its candidate for President in the upcoming NBA 2020 General Elections.

The IP Lawyers Association is the frontline association of Legal Practitioners whose professional interests lie in the areas of Entertainment Law, Copyright, Trademarks, Designs, Patents, Trade Secrets and other forms of Intellectual Property.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Trustees and the Association, Mr. Damilola Amore says “Mr. Olumide Akpata is a proven innovator who has pledged to commit his intellectual capital to the benefit of the commonwealth of all Nigerian Lawyers. As SBL Chairman, Mr. Akpata’s contributions to the growth of Intellectual Property practice in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized.”
“In a recent survey carried out by the Association, we discovered that many Nigerians do not understand what Intellectual Property is and more disturbing is that many lawyers are also in the dark as to the distinctions between the various Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and how these rights may be enforced. Nigeria’s Entertainment Industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. We need a President who can create the platform for lawyers to harness the value of an industry that generates more than $5 billion annually.”
