O. G. Ogbom has unveiled a legal research support initiative exclusively for young lawyers of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Port Harcourt Branch, offering access to LawPavilion’s legal research resources under a programme designed to strengthen legal practice, improve advocacy and enhance professional development.

The initiative, known as the O. G. Ogbom LawPavilion Package for Young Lawyers, will initially accommodate 50 eligible young lawyers who are members of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch, with plans to expand participation to 100 beneficiaries.

According to the announcement, the programme is strictly reserved for members of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch who are between one and seven years post-call. It provides access to legal research tools intended to improve legal drafting, case preparation, courtroom advocacy and professional efficiency.

Ogbom explained that the initiative was conceived to support young lawyers of the branch by providing access to legal research resources necessary for effective legal practice.

“I am pleased to introduce the O. G. Ogbom Law Pavilion Package for Young Lawyers, an initiative aimed at supporting young lawyers with access to valuable legal research resources, promoting professional development, and enhancing efficiency in legal practice,” the announcement stated.

The programme will operate through the LawPavilion Primsol Advocates’ Package, which provides subscribers with access to legal research materials, judicial decisions, legislation and practice-support tools.

Under the arrangement, participating lawyers will have access to appellate law reports containing decisions of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and the Court of Appeal.

The package also includes a consolidated index and digest of legal authorities dating from 1960 to the present, enabling practitioners to locate relevant judicial decisions and legal principles for research and litigation.

Beneficiaries will additionally have access to the Laws of the Federation, Rules of Court and the latest judgments, providing materials relevant to legal proceedings and the interpretation of applicable laws.

Other resources available under the package include legal textbooks and journals, unlimited legal searches and a feature known as My Practice Notes.

The subscription also provides access to Legal Analytics, Annotated Laws of the Federation and Words in Gold, a resource featuring customised legal pronouncements by appellate court judges.

These tools are intended to assist young lawyers in identifying relevant legal authorities, understanding judicial reasoning and preparing court processes supported by applicable laws and decided cases.

According to the announcement, the annual subscription fee for the Primsol Advocates’ Package under the initiative is ₦75,000 per user, excluding applicable Paystack transaction charges.

The announcement did not specify whether the subscription cost would be subsidised or whether beneficiaries would be responsible for paying the full amount.

To qualify, applicants must be registered members of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch, must be between one and seven years post-call and must provide a valid NBA Port Harcourt Branch Membership ID.

Young lawyers who do not belong to the NBA Port Harcourt Branch are not eligible to participate in the programme.

Selection will be conducted strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to applicants satisfying the stated eligibility requirements.

The pilot phase will accommodate only the first 50 eligible applicants from the branch, although Ogbom has indicated plans to expand the initiative to 100 young lawyers.

Interested applicants are required to submit their full names, telephone numbers, email addresses and valid NBA Port Harcourt Branch Membership IDs.

The submission window will run from Monday, November 2, to Friday, November 6, 2026.

Eligible members of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch are expected to forward their details through WhatsApp or SMS to 08037233945 within the stipulated period.

The announcement emphasised that participation in the pilot phase would be limited, encouraging interested and eligible young lawyers of the branch to submit their applications promptly.

Ogbom explained that the initiative was designed to equip young lawyers with practical tools that could improve their professional competence and ability to meet the demands of modern legal practice.

The programme is expected to support legal research, strengthen legal writing and assist practitioners in preparing court processes and developing arguments based on relevant statutory provisions and judicial authorities.

It is also intended to encourage the effective use of digital research platforms among younger members of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch.

Access to reliable legal research materials remains an important component of professional development, particularly for lawyers seeking to improve their understanding of judicial precedents, procedural rules and emerging legal developments.

By providing a structured opportunity to access LawPavilion’s research resources, the initiative seeks to help participating lawyers develop stronger research habits and improve their efficiency in handling legal assignments.

The inclusion of appellate judgments, legal digests, annotated legislation and legal analytics is expected to assist beneficiaries in conducting research across different areas of Nigerian law.

The programme also places emphasis on practical application, including the preparation of legal opinions, written addresses, pleadings and other court processes.

According to the announcement, the broader objective is to empower young lawyers of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch with resources that will strengthen their professional capabilities and enable them to navigate the demands of contemporary legal practice.

With the pilot phase restricted to 50 eligible members of the branch, interested applicants have been advised to complete their submissions within the November 2 to 6 application window.

The organisers maintained that the initiative would be expanded to accommodate 100 beneficiaries, subject to the proposed extension.

Eligible young lawyers of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch can apply by sending their full names, phone numbers, email addresses and valid NBA Port Harcourt Branch Membership IDs to 08037233945 through WhatsApp or SMS.
