Unknown gunmen have abducted Enock Maku, the Senior Special Assistant on Information and Protocol to the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, in the Agyaragu area of Lafia Local Government Area.
The abduction, which occurred in the late hours of Wednesday, has thrown the community into panic as residents grapple with the security breach.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, confirmed the incident to journalists, revealing that security operatives responded swiftly to the attack.
“Security operatives engaged the abductors in a confrontation that led to the rescue of two individuals,” Nansel stated. However, despite the rescue operation, Maku remains in captivity.
The police spokesperson assured the public that law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to secure the victim’s release. “The command has launched a full-scale investigation and manhunt to ensure the safe return of Mr. Maku,” he said.
Nansel added that security operatives are actively tracking down the perpetrators and working round the clock to resolve the situation.
The PPRO appealed for calm among residents of the area and urged them to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid the investigation.
“We assure residents that every effort is being made to secure Maku’s release unharmed,” Nansel emphasized.
The abduction adds to growing security concerns in the state, with authorities facing mounting pressure to address the spate of kidnappings and ensure the safety of residents.
As of the time of filing this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
