Rejoice Willson, an intern at J-K Gadzama LLP, alongside Bukola Mariam Okunlola and Erite Ogbonna, has emerged victorious at the 14th National International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot-Court Competition organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The annual competition, sponsored by the ICRC, attracts participation from over 30 universities across Nigeria. The 2025 edition commenced in April and culminated on August 1, with the team from Nile University of Nigeria, coached by Professor Fatima Alkali, winning the competition. The team is now set to represent Nigeria at the international stage scheduled for November 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The winning team demonstrated exceptional knowledge and advocacy skills in the principles of IHL, with Erite Ogbonna receiving the award for Best Oralist.

Notably, J-K Gadzama LLP’s contribution to the competition extends beyond this year. In 2019, Victor Okon, Esq. and Tabji Simon, Esq., Associates at the firm’s Abuja and Maiduguri offices respectively, coached teams from the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) and the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) to first and second place finishes at the 9th National IHL Moot-Court Competition.

This consistent success underscores J-K Gadzama LLP’s commitment to nurturing legal talent and promoting international humanitarian law in Nigeria.
