The All Progressives Congress has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his latest political realignments, accusing him of frequently changing political platforms instead of contributing to long-term party development.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the remarks in a post on his X handle on Sunday, where he questioned Obi’s pattern of political affiliations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Morka referenced Obi’s past associations with several political parties, including the All Progressives Grand Alliance, the Peoples Democratic Party, the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress, suggesting that the former Anambra State governor had developed a recurring pattern of moving from one platform to another.
According to him, political stability requires sustained commitment to party structures and internal consolidation, rather than repeated transitions across political parties.
He argued that effective political leadership is built through consistent participation, sacrifice and contribution to the growth of a political platform.
The APC spokesperson’s comments come amid renewed political conversations and alignments among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Also reacting, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, criticised Obi over his exit from the African Democratic Congress.
Obi had, in December 2025, announced his intention to join the coalition-backed ADC and later formally joined the party on March 7, obtaining his membership card at Agulu Ward 2 in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
However, in a statement on Sunday, Obi confirmed that he was leaving the ADC, citing “endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division” within the party.
He alleged that the same forces that created crisis and hostility within the Labour Party and forced him to leave had found their way into the ADC.
Reacting in a post on X, Onanuga described Obi as a “political nomad” and accused him of taking what he called the easy route out of the ADC.
According to Onanuga, Obi left the ADC because he could not face former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, in a contest for the party’s presidential ticket.
“The political nomad is on the move again. Ignore all those puerile reasons he gave in these illogical musings, a self-serving letter to his mob,” Onanuga wrote.
“Peter Obi is a politician made of jelly, an opportunistic fellow. He can’t fight Atiku or Amaechi for the ticket of ADC.”
The presidential aide said Obi had chosen a path that would not lead to political success, adding that the former governor often blamed the government without reflecting on his own political choices.
“He always blames the government without doing a soul-searching of himself. Welcome, Peter to the 2027 race,” Onanuga added.
The criticisms from APC officials come as opposition figures continue discussions on possible new alliances and platforms ahead of the next general elections.
