The Abuja Chapter of the National Association of Catholic Lawyers will hold its 2026 Law Week from Monday, June 22 to Sunday, June 28, 2026, with the theme, “Electoral Democracy in Nigeria and the 2026 Electoral Act.”

The week-long programme will feature spiritual, professional, academic and social activities aimed at strengthening discussions around Nigeria’s electoral process, democratic governance and the role of lawyers in promoting credible elections.

In an invitation to members of the Bar, the Chairman of the Catholic Lawyers Law Week Planning Committee, P. D. Pius, Esq., urged learned silks, seniors and colleagues to participate actively in the programme.

According to the programme of activities, the Law Week will begin on Monday, June 22, 2026, with an Opening Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja, by 12 noon.

On Tuesday, June 23, members of the association will visit Kubwa General Hospital by 10:00 a.m. as part of the humanitarian activities lined up for the week.

The main public lecture, titled “Electoral Democracy in Nigeria and the 2026 Electoral Act,” will hold on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, by 11:00 a.m. at the Ministry of Justice Auditorium, Central Business District, Abuja.

Expected speakers at the lecture include Mr. Samson Itodo of Yiaga Africa; Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State; Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN; and other distinguished resource persons.

Lawyers who attend the lecture are expected to earn one Continuing Professional Development point free of charge, with certificates to be issued to participants.

The programme will continue on Friday, June 26, 2026, with a dinner at Sandralia Hotel, Utako, Abuja, by 6:00 p.m.

On Saturday, June 27, participants will take part in aerobics at the Old Parade Ground, Mohammed Buhari Way, Garki, by 7:00 a.m.

The Law Week will end on Sunday, June 28, 2026, with a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Martins Catholic Church, Mabushi, Abuja, by 9:00 a.m.

The organisers said the programme is designed to bring Catholic lawyers together for reflection, fellowship, professional development and engagement on critical national issues, particularly electoral democracy and the legal framework governing elections in Nigeria.
