A candidate for the office of General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nnaebuka Onyebuchi Nwaeze, has pledged to make the NBA Secretariat more service-oriented, efficient and responsive to the needs of lawyers.

In his campaign message titled, “Let’s Make The NBA Secretariat About Service,” Nwaeze said the Secretariat remains the administrative engine of the legal profession and must be made to work clearly, efficiently and predictably for every member of the Bar.

According to him, leadership in the NBA is not merely about occupying office but about holding a position of trust on behalf of members.

“Every position is a trust. Leadership is a responsibility entrusted by the people. Every mandate deserves accountability, transparency and service,” the campaign message stated.

Nwaeze said his candidacy is built on the belief that the NBA Secretariat must value the time of lawyers, respect their contributions and deliver prompt, reliable and responsive service.

He maintained that strong institutions are built when trust is honoured through action, adding that the Secretariat must become a centre of service rather than bureaucracy.

The campaign message highlighted service, integrity, accountability and innovation as key pillars of his aspiration.

Under service, Nwaeze promised to put members first, while under integrity, he pledged to do what is right.

He also promised to take responsibility for results and embrace new ideas for a better NBA.

Calling on lawyers to support his aspiration, Nwaeze said, “Together, we can build a Secretariat that values your time, respects your contributions, and delivers responsive service.”

He urged members of the Association to vote for him as General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, adding that his goal is to make the NBA Secretariat about service.
