The Janada International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation, JICAM, has announced plans to hold its 2026 Masterclass on Arbitration Practice and Procedure, with the event set to explore how Nigeria and Rwanda can deepen collaboration and strengthen the future of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution across both jurisdictions.

According to the organisers, the Masterclass will hold on Monday, October 19, 2026, at JICAM in Abuja, and will bring together practitioners, academics and ADR professionals for what is being presented as an engaging and thought-provoking conversation on arbitration in Nigeria and Rwanda.

The organisers said the event will examine key questions on what Nigeria can learn from Rwanda, what Rwanda can learn from Nigeria, and how both countries can work together to advance arbitration practice, procedure and institutional development.

JICAM said the Masterclass is designed to provide a comparative and collaborative perspective on arbitration, while also focusing on emerging opportunities, cross-border cooperation and the strengthening of dispute resolution systems in Africa.

The Centre noted that the programme will serve as a platform for participants from both jurisdictions to share experiences, consider similarities and differences in their arbitration frameworks, and explore practical opportunities for partnership and mutual growth.

According to the announcement, the event is open not only to arbitration practitioners, but also to legal professionals, academics, ADR enthusiasts and others interested in the future of dispute resolution.

The organisers added that the Masterclass is intended to push forward important conversations around the development of arbitration and ADR on the continent, with particular attention to how collaboration between African jurisdictions can improve practice and expand institutional capacity.

JICAM described the event as part of its broader effort to bring arbitration, collaboration and innovation to the forefront of legal and dispute resolution discourse, urging interested participants to anticipate what it called an important conversation on the future of arbitration in Africa.
