NBA Elections 2020: I Endorse KUNLE EDUN For Welfare Secretary. -John Aruoture, NBA Warri Branch Immediate Past Secretary

The welfare and interests of lawyers should be the prioritized aim of any political office seeker in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). The NBA, as the umbrella body of lawyers, can only regain its lost glory by being fixated on policies that are geared towards the ultimate welfare of Nigerian lawyers.

The national elections are here, the usual manifestoes are out again. Despite the fact that Kunle Edun’s manifesto has been published by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA), in my view, he actually needs no introduction. Kunle Edun’s service-driven and welfarist deposition and activities are widely known. He is the current National Publicity Secretary of the NBA, and has given a good account of himself in promoting the rule of law.

Prior to his foray into national politics, Kunle Edun served as Publicity Secretary of the NBA Warri Branch, and later the Vice Chairman of the Branch. On each occasion, he poured himself into his role with dedication, conducting himself in an efficient manner, and raising the bar of service-delivery.

Kunle Edun is widely known to be a human rights crusader, embarking on various public interests litigations. He has handled lots of matters pro bono publico. His welfarist activities have led to the release of various illegal detainees, restricting the activities of overzealous security agents, ensuring the need to promote the rule of law and the preservation of the dignity of the human person.

My branch, the NBA Warri, at its general meeting of 24th of May, 2020, unanimously endorsed him as its sole candidate for the position of National Welfare Secretary. I am of the utmost belief that from his antecedents, if given the opportunity to serve in the National Welfare Secretary position, Kunle Edun will be a great driver of the much needed policy change and focus on the welfare of the Nigerian lawyer.

I sincerely urge you all to vote for him as the next National Welfare Secretary of the NBA.
