The Medical Law Association of Nigeria (MELAN), a professional body consisting of medical and legal professionals in Nigeria coming together towards fostering a synergy for compliance with medical laws, regulations and legal standard of medical care in Nigeria, has endorsed Mr. Olumide Akpata for the position of the National President of the Nigerian Bar Association in the July 29th, 2020 elections of the Association.

MELAN, in a statement issued on Monday, 27th July, 2020 by its Secretary, Amaitem Etuk, pledged the support of its members to Olumide Akpata in view of his laudable efforts in expanding the horizons of legal practice in the country.
According to Etuk “Mr. Olumide has shown incredible commitment for Nigerian lawyers to develop expertise in different aspects of the legal profession. For instance, he has promoted medical law as a viable area of expertise and specialization for Nigerian lawyers. He has organized trainings for Nigerian lawyers and law students on Medical Law in the past. He put together the largest Medicolegal Conference on the African continent.”
Etuk explained that the group decided to unanimously endorse Olumide Akpata because of his passion for capacity building which stands him out as the best qualified person to lead the Nigerian Bar Association into a new era of opportunities for lawyers.
“One candidate stands out from the pack. None of the presidential candidates has demonstrated capacity for human capital development the way Olumide Akpata has done over the years. He is a trailblazer, a builder, a transformer who has a track record of positively impacting on any enterprise or assignment he undertakes.
