The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the commencement of a comprehensive review of its systems to investigate possible technical glitches that may have affected the integrity of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, which were released last Friday.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, acknowledged the “significant volume of unusual complaints” received from candidates and stakeholders following the release of the examination results.

“In response to these complaints, JAMB is fast-tracking its annual system review — a thorough post-mortem typically conducted months after the examination,” Benjamin said. “This review will cover all three critical phases of the UTME process: registration, examination, and result release.”

He emphasized that during the conduct of the 2025 UTME, the Board ensured that all registered candidates had the opportunity to sit for the examination. Where technical issues occurred, JAMB promptly rescheduled affected candidates to retake the exam.

However, Benjamin noted with concern the concentration of complaints from certain states, prompting deeper scrutiny to uncover and address any underlying technical faults.

“To ensure a transparent and credible investigation, we have engaged several independent experts,” he added. “These include representatives from the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, chief external examiners drawn from heads of tertiary institutions, members of the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, measurement and evaluation experts, and Vice Chancellors from various universities.”

He reassured candidates and the public that if any glitches are identified, JAMB would not hesitate to implement appropriate corrective measures, just as it did by rescheduling exams for candidates impacted by disruptions during the examination period.

“We remain committed to ensuring fairness, accuracy, and credibility in all our operations,” Benjamin said.
