Operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Inspector-General of Police (IG) have arrested no fewer than eight persons in connection with the kidnap of the father of a former Governor of Plateau State, Chief Joshua Dariye.

The suspects were reportedly arrested after the operatives swooped in on them at various locations in Bokkos and other parts of the state.
Some residents of Bokkos, who witnessed their arrest, said they have been moved to Abuja for interrogation.
One of the residents, who gave his name as Bulus Ilya, said: “You know that Pa Dariye has been missing since, and whether he is still alive or not is something no one can affirm.
“So, last week, the IG operatives stormed Mushere community in Bokkos LGA, and arrested some of the residents, including some relatives of the former governor.
“We later heard that the operatives also went to Pankshin and Jos, where they arrested more people. I can tell you that no fewer than eight persons were arrested and taken to Abuja for interrogation over the disappearance of the former governor’s father, and till now, those arrested have not been released.”
Spokesman of the state Police Command, Mr. Gabriel Ogaba, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.
Ogaba said: “The command is aware of the operation. It was carried out in conjunction with our men from the state command but if you need more information on the matter, you can contact the police headquarters in Abuja.”
Pa Dariye, a man over 90 years was abducted by gunmen, who attacked his residence in Mushere community, Bokkos LGA of the state in June last year. A few days later, the abductors demanded N100million, which was probably not paid, and since then, the old man has been missing.
