A Lawyer and Human Rights Activist, Chief Malcolm Emokiniovo Omirhobo has been dragged before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC).
In a letter sighted by TheNigeriaLawyer from the Body of Benchers, Chief Malcolm was directed to submit affidavits disclosing his defence to the Originating Application filed by MURIC in SUIT NO. BB/LPDC/896/2022.
The letter further reads, “TAKE NOTE that you shall state your full name, Supreme Court enrolment number, contact address, email, phone numbers in your response”
While the content of the Originating Application was not disclosed, findings by TheNigeriaLawyer reveal it may not be unconnected to Chief Malcolm’s dramatic response to the Judgement of the Supreme which permitted the use of Hijabs in primary and secondary schools.
You will recall that few days after the judgement, Chief Malcolm Emokiniovo Omirhobo in protest appeared in the Supreme Court, and the Federal High Court in an olokun attire, a development which sparked ire from some quarters.
