[FULL LIST] NBA President Constitutes AGC & Remuneration Committees, With Osigwe As Remuneration Chair & Badejo-Okusanya As 2024 AGC Chair

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau SAN, has set up two key committees to organize the Annual General Conference (AGC) 2024 and review lawyers’ fees.

In separate statements on Tuesday, NBA announced the appointment of Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya as Chairperson of the 2024 AGC Planning Committee with Amina Sulieman Kaoje serving as Alternate Chair.

For the National Remuneration Committee, Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN was named Chairman while Aminu Sani Gadanya is the Vice Chairman.

This year’s NBA Conference is scheduled to hold in Lagos as the new 17-member planning team begins preparations to build on the success recorded at the 2023 edition.

Additionally, the 10-man National Remuneration Committee was constituted based on recommendations to establish a framework for regulating legal fees and service charges.

Both appointments by NBA President Yakubu Maikyau aim to set the stage for transformational outcomes during his tenure.

NOTICE OF CONSTITUTION OF ANNUAL GENERAL CONFERENCE PLANNING COMMITTEE AND NATIONAL REMUNERATION COMMITTEE

Distinguished Colleagues,

I had earlier had the privilege to communicate the decision of the National Executive Committee that the NBA Annual General Conference (AGC) 2024 will be held in Lagos State.

In a bid to have another epoch making AGC, building on the immense success of the AGC2023, the President of the NBA, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau,OON, SAN has appointed Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya as the Chairperson of the Annual General Conference Planning Committee 2024(AGCPC). She was the alternate chairman for the AGCPC2023.

Other members are:
Amina Sulieman Kaoje – Alternate chairperson
Laura Alakija – Secretary
Chika Eucharia Okorie – Assistant Secretary

Other members will be announced later whilst the committee reserves the power to co-opt members as they deem necessary.

In the same vein, the President has also constituted the NBA NATIONAL REMUNERATION COMMITTEE as follows:

3. Foluke Akinmoladun – Secretary
4. Florence Marcus – Assistant Secretary
5. Professor Agbo Johnson Madaki – Member

8. Damian Nosike – Member
9. Abdulwasiu Alfa – Member
10. Barbara Omosun – Member
11. Augustine Nwabueze Eseagwu – Member

It will be recalled that at the National Executive Council Meeting of the NBA held on 7 December 2023, the NBA Renumeration Implementation Committee made recommendations inter alia, for the establishment of the NBA Renumeration Committee referred to in paragraphs 10, 11 and 12 of the Legal Practitioners Renumeration (for Business, Legal Service and Representation) Order, 2023.
