The immediate Treasurer of NBA Warri Branch, Dr. Ejiro Kore-Okiti has endorsed Mr. John Aikpokpo-Martins for the next 1st Vice President of NBA in the forthcoming National Elections.

This is contained in a statement which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, entitled “THE JOHN AIKPOKPO-MARTINS THAT I KNOW.”
Meanwhile, while restating the efforts of Mr. John in a quest for support for rule of Law, she noted as follows:
“Let it be known that John Aikpokpo-Martins in the defence of a corrupt-free judiciary and in the defence of the rule of law testified against a sitting judge of the Delta State High Court before an NJC panel in 2009 on behalf of NBA Warri.
“Let it be further known that John Aikpokpo-Martins did support and participated in the NBA organized a boycott of courts for the protection of the rule of law in Nigeria in the matter of the Hon. Justice Walter Onnoghen.”
In addition, she stated that Mr. John performed excellently as the Branch Chairman within 1 year and 7 months of his tenure.
“John Aikpokpo-Martins built a Bar House for the Warri Branch within a tenure of only 1year and 7months without levying members of the branch.
“He increased welfare benefits like burial, ailment and wedding benefits due from the branch to members more 1000% of what was applicable before him.” She said.
Furthermore, she noted that he used his personal funds for the development of the Branch in several measures.
“He tastefully furnished a cloak room with his personal funds and donated same to female lawyers of the Branch for their use.”
In areas of public interest litigation, she noted that John led administration ensured that anti kidnapping law of Delta State was struck down for being violative of rights.
“His administration did several public interest litigation cases, including the case that struck down the anti kidnapping law of Delta State that empowered the Governor to pull down the houses of kidnap suspects without trial, and that also took away the power of the courts to grant bail to kidnap suspects.”
Besides, she noted that Mr. John spoke truth to power and left an indelible imprints in the sands of time of the Branch.
“As Chairman, he spoke truth to power and the NBA Warri vibrancy was at its zenith.
“In a space of only 1 year 7 months, he etched his name in gold and delivered a history book of NBA Warri branch.”
Also, she stated that Mr. John ensured the passage of a bill in Delta State for an improved welfare of Lawyers.
“He got a bill passed in the Delta State House of Assembly that sought to enhance the earnings of lawyers in matters of land documentations. He is indeed a noble man.” She said.
“He is a leader and a team player who understands how to carry people along and sacrifice for the greater good of others. He allowed his co-officers in his administration to flourish when he was the chairman of the branch between 2014-2016.
“He did so much more and touched all aspects of our professional and associational life in the Warri Branch and Delta State.” She added.
Meanwhile, she noted that the facts alluded to are verifiable noting that many know his capabilities considering his antecedents as the Branch Chairman.
“The facts are verifiable and many backed by pictorial evidence! It is not a matter of mouthing cliches.
“Those of us in the Midwest know of the stuff John Aikpokpo-Martins is made of; he does not grandstand and seek unnecessary publicity. When he was chairman of Warri Branch between 2014-2016, the NBA had the opportunity to know the stuff he was made of, hence 4 years out of office as chairman of a branch, his name still resonates.” She said.
Also, she noted that the achievements are proudly brought to the fore because he is the best for the office of NBA 1st Vice President.
“I must say that i can proudly point to the solid achievements of my chairman when he had the opportunity to hold office as chairman. Let’s compare records in aspects of administration within the ambit of the aims and objects of the NBA. Let us talk about antecedents and he will simply pops top; he is simply the best.” She said.
“Let me hasten to say too that the protection of the well-being of lawyers is different from the working of an NGO that caters to 3rd parties from sponsorship monies.
“I am voting a man we can trust not to betray the Association at critical times. I am voting a man that is passionate about the profession, selfless and a goal getter and a non publicity seeker. Above all, I love my chairman because he thinks out of the box to find solutions to challenges and always a step ahead.” She added.
In the light of the forgoing, she urged that Mr. John be voted for in the forthcoming elections.
“Please vote John Aikpokpo-Martins as the 1st Vice President of the Bar, and the NBA will never regret it.” She concluded.
