Legal Practitioners privilege Committee has released a new guideline for the conferment of the prestigious rank of “Senior Advocate of Nigeria” for the 2023 ceremony.

According to the guidelines dated October 13, 2022, applicants, including ‘Advocates’ are required to conform to a standard of excellence and distinction in the legal profession.

Contrary to widespread criticism on the conferment of the rank ‘Academic Advocate’, the guidelines also defines such an applicant as ‘one who has distinguished himself and has made significant contribution to legal scholarship and jurisprudence’.
