President Bola Tinubu has reinstated Muhammad Danjuma, Permanent Secretary (Special Duties) in the Federal Ministry of Finance, two months after he was suspended over allegations linked to the activities of a purported government project office.

Danjuma’s reinstatement followed a review of issues arising from a report by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission concerning the purported National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, allegedly promoted by George Buchi Nwabueze.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Olumuyiwa Abel, conveyed the President’s approval in a letter dated October 22, 2026.

According to the letter, the reinstatement took effect from October 21, 2026.

Tinubu had on August 21, 2026, approved the suspension of Danjuma alongside two other permanent secretaries following the ICPC report on the activities of the purported project office.

The report had raised concerns over the alleged operation of the office and the suspected involvement of public servants, including officials connected with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The suspensions formed part of the Federal Government’s response to the allegations and were intended to allow the issues surrounding the project office to be examined.

Danjuma’s reinstatement, however, came after what the government described as due diligence on the matter.

Following the review, President Tinubu approved the lifting of his suspension and directed the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to recall him to duty with immediate effect.

The communication announcing the reinstatement did not disclose detailed findings of the investigation or indicate that Danjuma had been found culpable of any wrongdoing.
