Nigerian TikToker Nsikak Abigail, popularly known as Mirabel, has returned to social media months after undergoing a rehabilitation programme in Ogun State following a controversy over a rape allegation she later admitted was false.

Mirabel resurfaced on TikTok on Saturday with a series of posts touching on her survival, mental health and experience following rehabilitation, marking her first known public updates in several months.
In one of the posts, she appeared to anticipate criticism over her return to the platform, writing: “I survived, so I’m awaiting your hate comments.”
In another video, she gave an indication that she was still dealing with the aftermath of the episode despite leaving therapy.
“Out of therapy but not healed,” she wrote.
Mirabel made another post in which she suggested that the rehabilitation programme had not resolved all the challenges she had been dealing with.
“Made peace with my mental health since rehab couldn’t help. Hi y’all,” she wrote.
The posts signal her return to public life approximately six months after a controversy that began in February 2026 and eventually resulted in police involvement and her placement under the care of the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
Mirabel first attracted widespread public attention after posting emotional videos on TikTok alleging that an unidentified man had entered her residence in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, and sexually assaulted her on February 15.
She alleged at the time that she had been drinking because she was unable to sleep and had opened her door believing the person outside was a neighbour.
According to the account she initially gave, the alleged attacker pushed her backwards, causing her to hit her head on a refrigerator and lose consciousness. She further alleged that she had been restrained and sexually assaulted.
The allegations spread rapidly across social media, drawing millions of views and triggering widespread outrage, sympathy and demands for the alleged attacker to be apprehended.
Several public figures reacted to the story, while some Nigerians reportedly offered her financial assistance. Social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, said he sent her ₦100,000 after becoming aware of her claims.
The account, however, subsequently came under scrutiny as social media users began questioning inconsistencies surrounding the allegations and purported evidence associated with the incident.
The controversy took a dramatic turn when Mirabel admitted during a viral conversation with VeryDarkMan that the rape allegation was false.
She also admitted creating the TikTok account allegedly presented as belonging to the supposed attacker and said she had been taking drugs and was not thinking clearly at the time.
During the period, Mirabel also spoke about experiencing panic attacks and self-harm and appealed for assistance.
Following her admission, the Ogun State Police Command commenced an investigation into the incident.
Mirabel subsequently reported voluntarily at Ibafo Police Station before the matter was transferred to the Ogijo police jurisdiction. She underwent medical examination and received treatment.
Although the police initially indicated that prosecution over the false allegation remained a possibility after her treatment, the authorities subsequently placed greater emphasis on rehabilitation and psychosocial support.
By February 25, she had been released to the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development for care while investigations continued.
In June, the Ogun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, said investigations by the relevant authorities, together with Mirabel’s own admissions, established that the rape allegation had been “false and deliberately fabricated.”
According to the Attorney-General, investigators found that there was no offender to apprehend or prosecute and no continuing public-safety threat arising from the original allegation.
The state government consequently determined that the interest of justice would be better served by providing Mirabel with psychosocial rehabilitation rather than prosecuting her.
She was subsequently placed under the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, which was tasked with providing the necessary support during her rehabilitation.
The government nevertheless condemned both gender-based violence and false allegations of sexual violence, stressing that fabricated claims could have serious consequences and potentially undermine genuine survivors seeking justice.
Mirabel’s latest posts do not disclose exactly when she left the rehabilitation programme or the circumstances surrounding her exit.
Her statement that she is “out of therapy but not healed,” however, suggests that she does not consider her recovery process complete.
Her declaration that she had “made peace” with her mental health while claiming that rehabilitation “couldn’t help” also offers the clearest indication yet of how she views the intervention months after authorities opted for treatment instead of prosecution.
At the same time, her message “I survived, so I’m awaiting your hate comments” appears to acknowledge that her return to social media could revive criticism over the false allegation and the controversy that followed.
For now, Mirabel has not provided a detailed account of her rehabilitation experience or indicated whether she intends to address the February episode further, but her weekend posts mark her return to the same social media platform on which the controversy first unfolded.
