The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, has constituted the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal for the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election.

The constitution of the tribunal was conveyed in a notice issued by the Tribunal Secretary, Zubairu Nuhu, and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti.

The development comes ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, as the 14 participating political parties and their candidates intensify preparations for the poll.

According to the notice, the tribunal was constituted pursuant to the powers conferred on the President of the Court of Appeal by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, and the Electoral Act, 2026.

The notice stated that the tribunal would hear and determine petitions arising from the governorship election.

It further disclosed that the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Lekan Adekanye Ogunmoye, had approved the use of the National Industrial Court premises within the High Court Complex, opposite Fajuyi Park, Ado Ekiti, as the venue for the tribunal’s sittings.

The tribunal secretariat urged members of the public seeking information or clarification on matters relating to the tribunal to contact its registry at the designated court premises.
